International Technical Sales Executive – Compressed Air / Filtration

Shrewsbury, Shropshire – Office Based £40,000 basic + uncapped commission Permanent

If you have experience selling technical engineering products and like the idea of developing international customers without spending your life on the motorway, this role is worth a look.

We are recruiting for an established engineering business supplying specialist compressed-air filtration products into industrial customers and distributors.

The role starts with the UK market before developing into responsibility for opportunities across the USA and Canada.

That international element is important.

This is not a conventional 9-to-5 internal sales job. As your North American responsibilities develop, your working pattern will move towards US-compatible hours, so you need to be genuinely comfortable working later UK hours.

For the right person, that can actually offer a very different work-life balance.

Rather than early starts, constant driving, hotels and late returns from customer visits, most of the commercial work is carried out from the Shrewsbury office by phone, email and online meetings.

You get more of the daytime back while still building genuine international business.

What you'll be doing

You will initially spend time understanding the products, customers and existing UK market.

From there, the role will develop into a wider international sales position.

Your responsibilities will include:

*

Developing new business across the UK before transitioning into the USA and Canadian markets

*

Identifying and approaching potential distributors, partners and end users

*

Building relationships with existing and prospective customers

*

Understanding customer applications and recommending appropriate technical solutions

*

Producing and following up quotations

*

Developing opportunities from first contact through to order

*

Growing existing accounts and identifying additional opportunities

*

Maintaining regular contact with customers across different territories

*

Working closely with technical colleagues to ensure the right product and solution is offered

*

Using phone, email, video calls and digital communication to develop international relationships

This is a proactive sales role.

There will be existing opportunities and relationships to develop, but you should also be comfortable picking up the phone, opening conversations and creating business rather than waiting for enquiries to arrive.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who already understands technical or industrial sales.

Ideally, your background will involve products such as:

*

Compressed air

*

Pneumatics

*

Filtration

*

Valves

*

Pumps

*

Fluid power

*

Process equipment

*

Industrial components

*

Other technical engineering products sold into manufacturing or industrial customers

Exact product knowledge is not everything.

What matters is that you can understand a technical product, ask sensible questions and explain value to an engineering or industrial customer.

You should also have genuine experience developing business.

That could include cold outreach, developing dormant accounts, opening new customers, working with distributors or growing an existing territory.

We are not looking for someone whose entire sales career has been based around processing inbound enquiries.

The international element

This is one of the most important parts of the role.

You will initially focus on the UK before developing responsibility for the USA and Canada.

Because of the time difference, the working pattern will eventually include later UK working hours aligned with North American customers.

That needs to genuinely suit your lifestyle.

For some people, it won't.

For others, it offers something quite attractive: less travelling, fewer early starts and much more freedom during the daytime while still working in a serious commercial role.

We would rather be completely open about that from the beginning.

The package

The role offers:

*

£40,000 basic salary

*

Uncapped commission

*

International market responsibility

*

Product and technical support

*

A clear opportunity to develop from UK sales into wider North American business development

The commission structure gives you the opportunity to benefit directly from the business you develop.

Why consider it?

This is not simply an internal quotation role.

You will have the opportunity to develop genuine international business and build relationships across markets that the company is actively investing in.

For someone who enjoys technical sales but is tired of spending half their working week travelling, there is also a very different lifestyle proposition here.

You can still build customers, develop opportunities and earn commission — but do much of it from one location.

If you understand technical industrial sales, are comfortable developing new business and genuinely like the idea of building customers across the UK and North America, we would like to hear from you.
