IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer

IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer – Full-time, Permanent

Location: Glasgow – 4 days per week onsite, with 1 day working from home

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits

The Opportunity:

If you work in IT support or infrastructure, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced one of two extremes.

You’re either handling a steady stream of tickets and end-user issues but rarely getting the opportunity to look beyond the immediate fix and develop your infrastructure skills.

Or you have moved into a more specialist technical role but have lost the variety that comes from understanding how the wider IT estate fits together.

This role offers something more balanced.

As an IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll join a close-knit internal IT function in a growing technology business, supporting colleagues across the organisation while building practical experience across servers, virtualisation, networks, Microsoft 365, Intune, security, backup and physical infrastructure.

It’s a broad role where you might be helping a colleague with an access, laptop or application issue; keeping on top of infrastructure tickets; patching Windows Server environments; or working alongside experienced Systems Administrators on the technology that keeps the wider business running.

There is also an exciting project ahead: the business is establishing a co-located datacenter presence near Glasgow. You will not be expected to arrive as a datacenter expert, but you will have the opportunity to get involved, learn from experienced colleagues and develop skills that many support roles simply do not offer.

So, if you’re enthusiastic about technology, enjoy solving problems, and want a role as an IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer that gives you a strong foundation across both IT support and infrastructure, this could be an excellent next step.

Why This Role Stands Out:

• Salary is £30-35,000 per annum depending on experience

• Annual salary reviews with regular market benchmarking

• Hybrid working – 1 day per week remote from home

• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

• 2 volunteer days per year

• Pension scheme – 4% employer, 4% employee contributions, plus optional extra 1% matched

• Health Cash Plan including 24/7 GP access and consultations

• Dental and optical cover

• Death in Service cover (4x salary) plus extras, including will writing

• Employee Assistance Programme

• Cycle to work scheme

• Discretionary bonus

• Modern office environment and collaborative culture

• Team events, knowledge sharing and continuous learning opportunities

• High levels of autonomy, trust and ownership

• Structured training and development opportunities to help you grow

• The opportunity to influence technical strategy within a growing technology business

What You’ll Bring to the IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer Role:

• Practical experience providing internal IT support, including supporting end users through a ticketing system.

• Confidence troubleshooting laptops, hardware, applications, access and common Microsoft environments.

• Working knowledge of Windows Server administration, including patching and routine maintenance.

• An understanding of core infrastructure technologies such as Hyper-V, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and networking.

• Exposure to Microsoft 365, Entra ID and/or Intune, alongside strong problem-solving and organisational skills.

• The enthusiasm to learn, take ownership and develop a long-term career in IT infrastructure. You must have long-term right to work in the UK.

Useful, but not essential: Jira or another ticketing platform; physical server hardware, storage, backup or disaster recovery; Cisco or Fortigate networks; Linux; Docker or LXC; and SQL, XML, CSV or JSON.

Why You Should Apply:

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay in one lane. It is an opportunity to build broad, valuable experience across internal IT support and business-critical infrastructure, while learning from a wider technical team with specialist knowledge across systems, networking and Linux.

You do not need to know everything on day one. What matters is a strong technical foundation, a willingness to get hands-on, and the motivation to turn that broad exposure into a career in infrastructure.
