Junior Chemical Engineer - Polymerisation

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Chemical Engineer with a specialization or keen interest in polymerisation processes to join their innovative team, remotely based but with occasional travel to their facility in Milton Keynes . This is an excellent entry-level position for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in developing and optimizing advanced polymer formulations. You will work closely with senior engineers and researchers, contributing to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments that drive product innovation in the materials science sector. This role is designed to foster growth and provide a solid foundation in the principles of polymer chemistry and process engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and execution of laboratory experiments related to polymer synthesis and processing.
• Monitor and analyze polymerisation reactions, collecting and interpreting key process data.
• Support the scale-up of new polymer formulations from lab bench to pilot plant.
• Conduct literature reviews and research on emerging polymer technologies and materials.
• Prepare technical documentation, including experimental procedures and basic reports.
• Collaborate with team members on troubleshooting process issues and implementing improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science/Engineering.
• A strong academic understanding of polymerisation mechanisms and characteristics.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
• Basic knowledge of process simulation or data analysis tools is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a remote team.
