Junior Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Civil Engineer to join their expanding infrastructure team, supporting projects across the Sunderland region. This role is designed for a recent graduate or early-career professional eager to develop their skills in a supportive, remote-first environment. You will work closely with senior engineers, contributing to the design, planning, and analysis of various civil engineering works, including transportation, utilities, and environmental schemes. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering designs, calculations, and drawings under the supervision of senior staff.
• Support the project team in conducting site investigations and data analysis for infrastructure projects.
• Contribute to the development of technical reports, specifications, and tender documents.
• Help in coordinating with external stakeholders, including clients and contractors, through virtual channels.
• Gain exposure to project management processes, monitoring progress and assisting with documentation.
• Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical field.
• Foundational understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
• Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and basic design tools is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
