About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Air Traffic Controller to manage operations at their busy facility near Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves overseeing daily air traffic control activities, ensuring the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic. You will be responsible for mentoring controllers, maintaining operational standards, and coordinating with pilots and ground personnel. This position offers a chance to lead a dedicated team in a vital aviation hub, contributing directly to the safety and efficiency of air travel in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and control aircraft movements within assigned airspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Supervise and provide guidance to a team of air traffic controllers, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Monitor weather conditions and operational information, making necessary adjustments to traffic flow.
• Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations and company procedures.
• Conduct performance reviews and training for control staff.
• Collaborate with airline operations and other stakeholders to manage traffic flow effectively.

Requirements

• Current and valid Air Traffic Controller license with relevant ratings.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in air traffic control.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an ATC environment.
• In-depth knowledge of air traffic control procedures, phraseology, and equipment.
• Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
