About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly capable Lead Air Traffic Controller to manage and coordinate air traffic operations at a busy facility in Newcastle upon Tyne . This critical role involves supervising a team of controllers, ensuring the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic, and maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety. You will be responsible for operational efficiency, training, and adherence to all regulatory requirements, playing a vital part in the complex ecosystem of modern aviation. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of air traffic controllers , ensuring efficient shift operations and optimal performance.
• Direct and control air traffic within assigned airspace, employing radar, visual, and non-visual separation techniques to prevent collisions.
• Monitor flight progress, weather conditions, and potential hazards, making real-time decisions to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Implement and enforce air traffic control procedures , standards, and regulations, ensuring strict compliance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs, and facilitate continuous professional development for the control team.
• Collaborate with pilots, airline operations, and other aviation stakeholders to manage traffic flow and resolve operational issues effectively.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as an Air Traffic Controller with a proven track record of safe operations.
• Valid Air Traffic Controller's Licence and relevant ratings (e.g., Aerodrome Control, Approach Control).
• Deep understanding of aviation regulations, airspace management, and aerodrome procedures .
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and situational awareness abilities.
• Proficiency with air traffic management systems and radar equipment.
