Lead Analytical Chemist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Analytical Chemist to join their quality control and research team in Derby . This role is crucial for developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods to characterize raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. You will manage a team of analytical chemists, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy).
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the analytical chemistry laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and methods, resolving complex technical issues.
• Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Mentor and train junior analytical chemists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in analytical chemistry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Extensive hands-on experience with a range of analytical instrumentation and techniques.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ICH) in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
