Lead Animator

About the Role

Our client, a growing digital media studio in Derby , is seeking a visionary Lead Animator to spearhead their animation projects. This role is pivotal in guiding the creative and technical aspects of 2D and 3D animation for a variety of applications, including games, marketing campaigns, and explainer videos. You will lead a team of animators, mentor junior talent, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, engaging animated content that aligns with client briefs and artistic standards. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned animator to take on a leadership position and shape the visual storytelling for innovative projects in the Derby region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of animators, overseeing all stages of the animation pipeline from concept to final output.
• Develop and implement animation styles and techniques that meet project requirements and artistic goals.
• Create compelling and high-quality 2D and 3D animations for diverse media, including games, marketing materials, and digital content.
• Collaborate with directors, designers, and clients to interpret project briefs and ensure alignment with creative vision.
• Provide constructive feedback, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior and mid-level animators.
• Ensure animation assets are optimized for performance and integration into various platforms and projects.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as an Animator , with a strong portfolio demonstrating leadership and expertise in 2D and/or 3D animation.
• Proficiency in industry-standard animation software such as Maya, Blender, Adobe After Effects, Toon Boom Harmony, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to lead a team, manage project timelines, and deliver high-quality animation assets.
• Strong understanding of animation principles, character rigging, and storytelling through motion.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a creative flair for bringing characters and stories to life in the Derby digital arts space.
