About the Role
Our client, a pioneer in automotive innovation based in Oxford , is seeking an experienced Lead Automotive Powertrain Engineer to drive the development of advanced powertrain solutions. This leadership role will involve guiding a team of engineers in the design, integration, and testing of next-generation powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and fully electric powertrains. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of vehicle propulsion, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and emissions compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and validation of automotive powertrain systems (ICE, hybrid, EV).
- Manage and mentor a team of powertrain engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Define powertrain performance targets, specifications, and development roadmaps.
- Oversee the integration of powertrain components with vehicle systems, ensuring seamless functionality.
- Conduct rigorous testing and analysis of powertrain performance, efficiency, and emissions data.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and other engineering departments to ensure project success.
- Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation for senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in automotive powertrain development, with proven leadership capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, electric motors, battery technology, and power electronics.
- Experience with powertrain simulation tools (e.g., GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink) and data acquisition systems.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, thermodynamics, and control systems.
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
