About the Role
Our client is recruiting for a dynamic Lead Bioinformatician to spearhead their expanding genomics research initiatives in Birmingham . Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Design and execute computational analyses to identify genetic variants, gene expression patterns, and regulatory elements.
- Collaborate with experimental teams to interpret genomic findings in the context of biological questions.
- Build and maintain databases for storing and querying large genomic datasets.
- Mentor junior bioinformaticians and contribute to the strategic direction of bioinformatics research.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data using relevant tools and software (e.g., GATK, STAR, DESeq2).
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python and R.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
- Experience leading computational projects and supervising technical staff.
