Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-seq.
- Lead and mentor a team of bioinformaticians, overseeing project execution and ensuring high-quality results.
- Collaborate with geneticists, molecular biologists, and clinicians to interpret genomic findings and their implications for disease research and patient care.
- Develop and maintain databases and data warehousing solutions for managing and querying large genomic datasets.
- Implement state-of-the-art algorithms and statistical methods for variant calling, association studies, and functional genomics.
- Communicate complex analytical results effectively through reports, presentations, and visualizations to diverse audiences.
Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in bioinformatics, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team management capacity.
- Expertise in analyzing large-scale genomic datasets and a deep understanding of NGS technologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Perl, and scripting languages like Bash.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity).
- Strong understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and functional genomics is essential.
