About the Role

Our client, a major player in the petrochemical sector, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Chemical Engineer to oversee critical process engineering functions in Birmingham . This senior position is responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, modification, and optimisation of petrochemical production facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of chemical engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Oversee the design, engineering, and implementation of capital projects for plant modifications and expansions.
• Develop and optimize petrochemical processes to maximize yield, minimize waste, and ensure product quality.
• Conduct hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and implement robust safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and project management, to achieve business objectives.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies, recommending their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering with a strong academic record.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in the petrochemical industry, with a focus on process engineering and project leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing large-scale projects.
• In-depth knowledge of refining processes, catalysis, and separation technologies.
• Proficiency in process safety management (PSM) principles and relevant software.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
