Lead Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Chemical Engineer to oversee and drive critical projects from their Cardiff base. This is an on-site role, offering the opportunity to work hands-on with state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated team. As the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding process design, ensuring operational excellence, and mentoring junior engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of new chemical processes and equipment installations.
• Oversee process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Manage and mentor a team of chemical engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
• Develop and implement strategies for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D departments to ensure seamless integration of new processes.
• Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and technical specifications for capital expenditure projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering .
• 10+ years of progressive experience in the chemical industry, with a proven track record in process design and project leadership.
• Extensive knowledge of chemical process safety , environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in managing engineering projects from conception through to completion.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and project management tools.
