About the Role
Our client seeks a highly experienced and motivated Lead Chemical Engineer to spearhead critical projects in their Sunderland facility. This senior position demands strong technical leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex engineering initiatives from conception through to completion. You will guide a team of engineers, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to ensure the successful development and implementation of innovative chemical processes and technologies. The hybrid work model ensures effective team collaboration while maintaining personal flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of large-scale chemical processes.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of chemical engineers.
- Oversee process safety reviews, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Liaise with external consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in the chemical industry, with a significant portion in a lead or supervisory role.
- Expertise in process design, scale-up, and project management.
- Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects and teams.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and environmental regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
