About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Chemical Engineer to oversee critical process operations in their facility located in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position involves leading a team of engineers, driving innovation in process design, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency are met. You will play a key role in strategic decision-making, project execution, and the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles applied in an industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of chemical engineers, providing technical direction and performance feedback.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for process optimization and expansion projects in Newcastle upon Tyne .
- Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of new chemical processing equipment and systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with supply chain and production management to optimize resource allocation and production schedules.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex process deviations.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in chemical engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role .
- Proven experience in project management, including budget control and stakeholder management.
- Expertise in process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within the chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
