About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary Lead Chemical Engineer to spearhead critical projects within their state-of-the-art facility in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position offers the opportunity to shape the future of our chemical processes, leading a team of dedicated engineers and technicians. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards, playing a key role in the strategic direction of our process engineering division.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage a portfolio of complex chemical engineering projects from conception through to completion.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for process intensification and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., COMAH).
• Lead and mentor a team of chemical engineers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Engage with senior management to define project scope, budgets, and timelines.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement robust, long-term solutions.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in the chemical industry, with significant leadership responsibilities.
• Expertise in process design , scale-up, and optimisation of industrial chemical processes.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale capital projects and budgets effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and process safety management systems.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
