Lead Civil Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Civil Engineer to spearhead critical infrastructure projects in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position involves taking charge of project lifecycles, from initial concept and design through to construction supervision and handover. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative engineering solutions that address the region's growing infrastructure needs. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the highest standards of technical delivery and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the technical aspects of major civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and utilities.
• Develop detailed project plans, scope of work, and technical specifications in collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure all engineering designs and construction activities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to a team of civil engineers, technicians, and project staff.
• Manage client relationships, consultant coordination, and contractor oversight throughout project delivery.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and site inspections to ensure work conforms to design specifications and project objectives.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in leading and delivering large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management, structural analysis, and construction supervision.
• Proficiency with engineering design software such as Revit , MicroStation , and project scheduling tools.
• Strong leadership capabilities, with a proven track record of managing and motivating engineering teams.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation is essential.
