About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Civil Engineer to oversee site development projects in the vibrant city of Edinburgh . This role involves managing the civil engineering aspects of new commercial and residential developments, from initial planning and design through to construction and handover. You will be responsible for ensuring that all site development meets regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and client expectations. This is a crucial position for an engineer with a strong background in land development and infrastructure design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil engineering design for new site developments, including land grading, drainage, utility connections, and access roads.
- Prepare detailed site plans, calculations, and specifications in accordance with local planning policies and building codes.
- Coordinate with architects, surveyors, and other consultants to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Manage the tendering process for site works and oversee contractors during construction.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Address any site-specific engineering challenges and provide practical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with professional registration (e.g., CEng) highly preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering, with a significant focus on site development, land planning, and infrastructure design.
- Proven track record of managing site development projects from feasibility to completion.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and relevant drainage design tools.
- Thorough understanding of Scottish planning regulations, building standards, and environmental considerations.
- Strong project management, communication, and negotiation skills are essential.
