Lead Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Civil Engineer to head their engineering division in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position requires a visionary leader capable of driving innovation and delivering complex civil engineering solutions across a range of sectors. You will be responsible for overseeing project teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring the technical excellence of all engineering deliverables from their Tyne and Wear base. Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of civil engineers and technicians.
• Oversee the design, planning, and execution of major civil infrastructure projects.
• Ensure all engineering designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation effectively.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct peer reviews of designs and provide expert technical advice on complex engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in the civil engineering industry, with proven experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design principles, construction methods, and project management techniques.
• Demonstrated experience with geotechnical investigations , drainage design , and road/highway engineering.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software, including civil design suites .
• Strong leadership qualities, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
