About the Role

Our client, a prestigious visual effects studio based in Birmingham , is searching for an accomplished Lead Compositor to spearhead their compositing department. You will be responsible for overseeing the seamless integration of visual effects elements into film and television projects, ensuring artistic consistency and technical excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of compositors, providing technical direction and creative feedback throughout the production pipeline.
• Oversee the integration of CG elements, matte paintings, and other VFX assets into live-action footage with precision and artistic integrity.
• Develop and implement compositing workflows and techniques to achieve complex visual effects.
• Collaborate closely with VFX supervisors, CG leads, and directors to meet project requirements and creative goals.
• Ensure the final composite shots meet the highest quality standards, addressing any issues related to color, lighting, and integration.
• Manage shot assignments and artist workloads to ensure efficient delivery within project deadlines.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in compositing for feature films or high-end television, with a minimum of 2 years in a lead role.
• Advanced proficiency in industry-standard compositing software, primarily Nuke .
• Deep understanding of color science, lighting, lens effects, and camera principles.
• Proven ability to integrate CG elements seamlessly with live-action plates.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex compositing challenges.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
