Job Description
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead their bioinformatics initiatives. This fully remote position is critical for developing and implementing advanced computational strategies to analyze large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. You will play a key role in identifying novel biomarkers, understanding disease mechanisms, and guiding our drug discovery efforts from anywhere in the world. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that values scientific rigor, collaboration, and flexible working, allowing you to contribute to impactful research without geographical constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement sophisticated bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, WGS).
- Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, predict outcomes, and generate novel hypotheses from complex biological data.
- Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, geneticists, and clinicians to define research questions and translate biological insights into computational analyses.
- Develop and maintain scalable codebases, databases, and computational infrastructure to support ongoing research projects.
- Mentor and guide a team of computational biologists, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
- Present complex computational findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, with a strong emphasis on genomics and transcriptomics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics libraries and tools.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
- Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and disease mechanisms.
Benefits
- Highly competitive salary and performance-driven bonus structure.
- Fully remote work arrangement with a technology stipend.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous paid time off and flexible working hours.
- Opportunities for professional development, including conferences and training.
