About the Role
Our client is searching for an visionary Lead Concept Artist to spearhead the visual direction of their exciting new projects in Glasgow . In this senior role, you will be responsible for establishing and communicating the artistic style, mood, and aesthetic for characters, environments, and props. You will guide a team of talented concept artists, fostering a collaborative and inspiring environment while ensuring the highest quality of visual output. Your ability to translate abstract ideas into tangible, compelling visual designs will be paramount, working closely with the art director and other department leads to define the look and feel of our games. This is a unique opportunity to leave your artistic mark on ambitious titles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of concept artists, providing artistic direction, feedback, and technical guidance.
- Create high-quality concept art for characters, environments, props, and key narrative moments.
- Develop and maintain the overall visual style guide and art direction for projects.
- Collaborate with the art director, game designers, and other stakeholders to define and refine visual targets.
- Ensure consistency and quality across all concept art deliverables.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging art techniques to inspire innovation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in concept art for video games, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
- Exceptional artistic skills with a strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of styles and subjects.
- Proficiency in industry-standard digital painting software (e.g., Photoshop, Procreate).
- Solid understanding of anatomy, perspective, composition, color theory, and lighting.
- Experience with 3D software for concepting and rendering is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
