About the Role

Our client requires a proactive and skilled Lead Drilling Engineer to oversee drilling operations for their projects based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position demands extensive expertise in planning, executing, and managing complex drilling campaigns, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will lead a team of drilling engineers and specialists, working closely with subsurface and operations departments to achieve project objectives in the demanding oil and gas sector . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage comprehensive drilling programs and well designs , adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.
• Oversee the execution of drilling operations, providing technical support and troubleshooting for encountered issues.
• Manage drilling contracts, equipment, and service providers to ensure optimal performance and cost control.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for drilling hazards.
• Mentor and develop the capabilities of the drilling engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering, with a significant portion in leadership roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in well planning , directional drilling, casing design, and cementing.
• Proficiency with drilling simulation software and real-time drilling data analysis.
• Strong project management skills and a proven track record of successful project delivery in the oil and gas industry .
