Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead electrical design initiatives within their facility in Coventry, West Midlands, UK . This senior position involves taking ownership of the entire electrical design lifecycle, from conceptualization through to detailed design and commissioning. You will play a critical role in developing innovative solutions for diverse industrial applications, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for new projects, ensuring adherence to specifications, codes, and industry best practices.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and component selections using CAD software.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, overseeing workload and technical quality.
• Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, short circuit calculations, and protective device coordination.
• Conduct site visits for design verification, installation supervision, and troubleshooting.
• Liaise with project managers, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in electrical design, with a proven track record in a lead or senior capacity.
• Expertise in low voltage and medium voltage systems , motor control, and automation.
• Proficiency in using industry-standard electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).
• Strong understanding of relevant UK and international electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
