Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their electrical engineering initiatives in Birmingham . You will take ownership of the electrical design aspects of major projects, from conception through to completion, ensuring technical integrity and adherence to budget and schedule. This role requires a strong leader capable of guiding a team, fostering innovation, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders to deliver exceptional results. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of our client's electrical infrastructure and technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for complex engineering projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring schedules.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, overseeing their work and professional development.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other project stakeholders to address design requirements and resolve technical issues.
• Perform site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical risk assessments for new projects.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance design solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive experience (7+ years) in electrical design engineering, with a significant portion in a lead or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in power systems design , including high voltage applications and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with industry-standard simulation and design software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD).
• Strong leadership, project management, and client-facing communication skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility is highly desirable.
