Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their electrical design initiatives in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position demands a proactive approach to designing and overseeing the implementation of sophisticated electrical infrastructure for various projects. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process, from conceptualization to detailed drawings and specifications for complex projects.
• Oversee and approve electrical system designs, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify design integrity and installation progress.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met effectively.
• Implement and refine design standards and best practices within the electrical engineering department.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in electrical design, with a proven track record of leading projects.
• Expertise in low and high voltage systems , power distribution, and protection schemes.
• Proficiency in relevant design software, such as ETAP or PSS/E, and BIM integration.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience with renewable energy systems or industrial automation is a plus.
