Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead critical projects from their Newcastle upon Tyne office. This leadership position involves managing all phases of the electrical design lifecycle, from conceptualization and detailed design to implementation and validation. You will be responsible for a team of engineers, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality electrical solutions that meet demanding project specifications and client expectations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design efforts for new product development and system upgrades, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Develop and review detailed technical specifications, schematic diagrams , and wiring harnesses.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing technical direction and performance feedback.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis to ensure product reliability and safety.
• Collaborate with procurement and manufacturing teams to source components and ensure design for manufacturability.
• Champion best practices in electrical engineering, including documentation, testing methodologies, and quality control within the Newcastle upon Tyne facility.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience (10+ years) in electrical system design, with a proven track record of leading engineering projects.
• Expertise in analog and digital circuit design , power systems, and control systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
