About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead their electrical engineering efforts in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position involves leading design initiatives, mentoring a team of engineers, and ensuring the successful execution of complex electrical projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design process for new products and systems, from initial concept through to production.
- Oversee the creation of detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, and component selections.
- Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, technical support, and performance feedback.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements specific to the UK market.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration and timely project delivery.
- Conduct rigorous design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA analyses to identify and mitigate potential issues early in the development cycle.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience (7+ years) in electrical design, with a proven track record of leading engineering projects.
- Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards such as BS 7671 and IEC standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
