Lead Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to spearhead their projects in Cardiff . This senior position requires a deep understanding of grid infrastructure, energy distribution, and power generation technologies. You will lead a team of engineers, manage complex projects from conception to completion, and ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, engineering, and implementation of complex power systems projects, from substations to distribution networks.
• Provide expert technical direction and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and technicians.
• Oversee project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Conduct detailed site surveys, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Develop and review technical specifications, tender documents, and project proposals.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and strong relationships are maintained.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Electrical Engineering , with a strong emphasis on power systems design and implementation.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of high voltage equipment, protection schemes, and grid integration standards.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in relevant software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or similar power system analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of the UK energy market and regulatory landscape is essential.
