About the Role

Our client is seeking a distinguished Lead Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Systems to join their established engineering department in Birmingham . This senior position demands extensive technical leadership in the design, implementation, and optimization of high-voltage and low-voltage power distribution networks. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our electrical infrastructure, overseeing project lifecycles and driving innovation in power engineering. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of power system projects, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications for substations, switchgear, protection systems, and power distribution infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with all national and international electrical safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and performance management.
• Conduct advanced analysis of power quality, load flow, fault levels, and transient stability using industry-standard software.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in the design and management of complex power systems.
• In-depth knowledge of grid codes, protection relays, SCADA systems, and power system simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale power infrastructure projects.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
