Lead Environment Artist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Lead Environment Artist to join their creative team in Wolverhampton . This hybrid role involves guiding the creation of immersive and visually stunning game environments, from initial concept to final implementation. You will lead a team of environment artists, ensuring artistic consistency, technical quality, and timely delivery of all environmental assets. This is a prime opportunity to shape the look and feel of new worlds, working collaboratively in a studio setting with the flexibility of remote work on certain days.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of environment artists, providing artistic direction and feedback.
• Oversee the creation of high-quality 3D environment assets , including modeling, texturing, and lighting.
• Develop and maintain environment art style guides and technical pipelines.
• Collaborate with level designers and art directors to define and execute environmental layouts.
• Optimize environment assets for performance within the game engine.
• Conduct regular reviews of environment art, ensuring it meets project quality standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in environment art for games, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional 3D environment art and world-building skills.
• Proficiency with industry-standard 3D modeling, texturing, and game engines (e.g., Maya, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine).
• Excellent understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory in a 3D space.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, adapting to both in-office and remote collaboration.
