About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Environment Artist to guide their world-building efforts in Southampton . You will be responsible for overseeing the creation of stunning and immersive game environments, from initial concept to final implementation. In this hybrid role, you will lead a team of talented artists, fostering a collaborative atmosphere and ensuring the highest quality in environmental design. This position is ideal for a seasoned artist who possesses a strong artistic vision, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for crafting believable and captivating virtual worlds that players will explore.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of environment artists, providing artistic direction and technical guidance.
- Oversee the creation of high-quality 3D environment assets, including terrain, props, and architectural elements.
- Establish and maintain artistic style guides and technical standards for environmental art.
- Collaborate with level designers and art directors to translate game concepts into visually compelling environments.
- Review and provide feedback on environment art assets, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Optimize environments for performance across various target platforms.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an Environment Artist in the game industry, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating realistic or stylized game environments.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and texturing tools (e.g., Substance Painter, Photoshop).
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Excellent understanding of lighting , composition, and architectural design principles.
- Proven leadership and communication skills for managing a team in a hybrid work model.
