About the Role

Our client, a distinguished pharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced Lead Formulation Scientist to spearhead the development of innovative biologic drug formulations in their state-of-the-art facility located in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior role is critical in advancing our pipeline of complex protein-based therapeutics from early development through to commercialization. You will lead a team of scientists, manage formulation development projects, and drive scientific strategy to ensure the stability, efficacy, and manufacturability of our biologic products. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development strategy for a portfolio of biologic drug candidates, including proteins, antibodies, and vaccines.
• Oversee and conduct experimental work related to formulation design, optimization, and characterization, ensuring product stability and performance.
• Manage and mentor a team of formulation scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Develop and implement robust analytical methods for assessing drug product quality and stability.
• Collaborate closely with analytical development, process development, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure seamless project progression.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions related to biologics formulation in Newcastle upon Tyne .

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a significant focus on biologics .
• Demonstrated expertise in protein chemistry, stabilization strategies, and formulation techniques for parenteral delivery.
• Proven experience in leading scientific teams and managing complex development projects.
• In-depth knowledge of analytical techniques relevant to biologic characterization (e.g., HPLC, CE, DLS, spectroscopy).
• Familiarity with GMP regulations and CMC requirements for biologics.
