Lead Formulation Scientist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead Formulation Scientist to spearhead their pharmaceutical development efforts, working remotely. This critical role will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing novel drug delivery systems and dosage forms to enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance. You will play a key part in translating complex scientific concepts into tangible, scalable pharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of formulation science, materials science, and drug delivery technologies, driving projects forward in a fully remote, collaborative setting that values scientific excellence and impactful innovation in the pharmaceutical industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of new drug candidates, from early-stage concept through to technology transfer for manufacturing .
• Design and execute experiments to develop and characterize various dosage forms, including oral solids, injectables, and topical preparations.
• Utilize advanced analytical techniques for formulation characterization and stability testing, ensuring product quality and performance.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams (e.g., analytical development, CMC, regulatory affairs) and external partners to advance projects.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and optimize processes for scalability and manufacturability, ensuring robust and reproducible results in a remote capacity.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (8+ years) in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a strong track record of successful product development.
• Deep expertise in various formulation technologies, excipient selection, and drug delivery systems.
• Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, dissolution testing, DSC, and TGA for product characterization .
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proven ability to manage projects effectively in a remote environment.
