Lead Frontend Developer

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking tech company located in the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne , is seeking an accomplished Lead Frontend Developer to spearhead their development efforts. You will be responsible for architecting and building high-performance, responsive user interfaces for their flagship web applications. This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a passion for creating exceptional digital experiences. You will mentor a team of talented frontend engineers, drive technical decisions, and ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and maintainable code for projects across Tyne and Wear .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex frontend architectures using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
• Develop and maintain reusable components and libraries to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
• Optimize application performance for speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Collaborate with backend developers and designers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and promote best practices within the development team.
• Stay abreast of emerging frontend technologies and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Expertise in HTML5 , CSS3 (including preprocessors like SASS/LESS), and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Proven experience with at least one major frontend framework like React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Strong understanding of state management, build tools (Webpack, Babel), and testing frameworks.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to guide the team in Newcastle upon Tyne .
