Lead Game Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Game Designer to guide the design direction of exciting new projects in Sheffield . You will be responsible for defining game mechanics, systems, and player experiences, while leading and mentoring a team of talented game designers. This role requires a blend of creative vision, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills to ensure the delivery of innovative and engaging gameplay. You will collaborate closely with all departments, including art, engineering, and production, to bring a cohesive and compelling vision to life, working within a studio that values player satisfaction and creative exploration.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and document core game mechanics, systems, and player progression.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of game designers, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
• Oversee the implementation of game design elements, ensuring they align with the overall vision.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (art, engineering, production) to ensure seamless integration of design features.
• Prototype, iterate, and refine gameplay systems based on playtesting feedback and design goals.
• Ensure the game provides a compelling and balanced player experience from start to finish.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in game design , with a significant portion in a lead or senior role.
• Proven track record of shipping successful titles, with a strong portfolio of design work.
• Deep understanding of game mechanics, systems design, level design, and player psychology.
• Experience with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and design documentation tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills .
• Ability to articulate complex design ideas clearly to diverse teams.
