About the Role
Our client, a dynamic and growing game studio in Wolverhampton , is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Game Programmer to guide their engineering team. This hybrid role involves overseeing the technical direction of game development, mentoring junior programmers, and actively contributing to the implementation of core game systems. You will work closely with designers and artists to bring ambitious game concepts to life, ensuring code quality, performance, and stability. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of game programmers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
- Design, implement, and optimize core game systems and engine features.
- Collaborate with designers and artists to translate game vision into functional mechanics and features.
- Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, maintainability, and testability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues throughout the development cycle.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and programming best practices relevant to game development.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in game programming , with a proven track record of shipping titles.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring a programming team.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, performance optimization, and debugging techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective in a hybrid work setting.
