About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Lead Game Writer to join their established, fully remote development studio, based out of Bristol . This senior role will be responsible for crafting compelling narratives, character backstories, and dialogue that drive player engagement and immerse them in rich, believable worlds. You will lead a team of writers, set narrative quality standards, and collaborate closely with design and art departments to ensure the story is seamlessly integrated into gameplay. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overarching narrative strategy for game projects, including plot, character arcs, and world-building.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of game writers, providing constructive feedback and direction.
• Write high-quality dialogue, scripts, quest descriptions, and in-game text.
• Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and producers to ensure narrative coherence and integration with gameplay mechanics.
• Establish and maintain lore bibles and style guides for narrative consistency.
• Conduct research to ensure historical, cultural, or factual accuracy where required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in game writing , with a significant portion in a lead or senior capacity.
• Proven track record of delivering engaging narratives for critically acclaimed titles.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Experience with narrative design tools and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of interactive storytelling and player agency.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, crucial for a remote team.
