About the Role

Our client seeks a dynamic Lead Gene Therapy Scientist to drive their pioneering gene therapy research programs in Cardiff . You will be responsible for the strategic direction of research projects, overseeing experimental design, execution, and data analysis to advance candidates towards clinical application. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage research projects focused on the development of gene therapy vectors (e.g., AAV, lentivirus).
• Oversee the design, cloning, and characterization of therapeutic gene constructs.
• Establish and optimize methods for evaluating gene expression, efficacy, and safety in vitro and in vivo.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance gene therapy candidates.
• Mentor and develop junior scientific staff, fostering a high-performance research culture.

Requirements

• PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related field.
• Significant industry experience (6+ years) in gene therapy research and development.
• Demonstrated expertise in vector design, production, and characterization.
• Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques and preclinical study design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking abilities.
