Lead Geologist - Subsurface Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Geologist to spearhead subsurface exploration initiatives. This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities that will secure the company's future resource base. You will be responsible for leading geological teams, integrating diverse datasets, and making critical recommendations for exploration drilling and development. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor geological teams in the interpretation of seismic, well log, and core data for prospect generation.
• Develop and manage exploration play fairway mapping and basin analysis programs.
• Oversee the quality control and integration of geological and geophysical data from various sources.
• Conduct detailed risk assessment and uncertainty analysis for exploration opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management to define exploration strategies and drilling targets .
• Present geological concepts and prospect evaluations to senior management and potential partners.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in exploration geology within the upstream oil and gas industry .
• Proven track record in identifying and maturing significant exploration prospects.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well correlation, and basin modeling software.
• Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, comfortable presenting complex geological concepts.
