Lead Geologist - Subsurface Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Geologist to spearhead subsurface exploration initiatives in Manchester . You will play a critical role in identifying and evaluating potential oil and gas prospects, integrating diverse geological data to build robust subsurface models. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in basin analysis and prospect generation, working collaboratively with reservoir engineers and geophysicists. Key Responsibilities

• Lead geological studies for exploration and appraisal projects, including basin analysis and play fairway mapping.
• Integrate seismic, well log, core, and production data to construct detailed subsurface geological models .
• Identify and mature new exploration and development opportunities, assessing geological risk and uncertainty.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to interpret seismic data and guide prospect de-risking efforts.
• Mentor and guide a team of geologists, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Prepare and present geological concepts and prospect evaluations to management and technical committees.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in exploration geology within the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Proven track record in prospect generation and successful exploration drilling campaigns.
• Expertise in structural geology, sedimentology, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Proficiency with geological modeling and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with experience working in a hybrid team environment.
