Lead Geologist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Lead Geologist to spearhead geological exploration and analysis for their Oil & Gas operations . This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK. You will be instrumental in identifying new exploration targets, characterizing subsurface geology, and providing essential geological support for drilling campaigns and field development. This role is crucial for guiding our exploration strategy and ensuring the successful identification and evaluation of hydrocarbon assets in a remote-first setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead geological studies for exploration and appraisal projects, including seismic interpretation and prospect evaluation.
• Develop and refine geological models using advanced software tools.
• Integrate data from various sources, including well logs, core samples, and geophysical surveys.
• Provide expert geological input for drilling operations, well planning, and risk assessment.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists, fostering a collaborative and technically rigorous team environment.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geological technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
• Extensive experience (8+ years) as a Geologist in the Oil & Gas exploration sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and basin analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver high-quality geological assessments.
