About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead their exploration initiatives based in Birmingham . This pivotal role involves leading geological and geophysical interpretation efforts to identify and de-risk prospective energy resources. You will manage exploration projects from conception through to appraisal, providing critical insights that guide strategic investment decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in prospect generation and evaluation within the energy sector, alongside excellent leadership qualities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geological and geophysical interpretation of seismic data for prospect identification and evaluation.
- Develop and manage integrated subsurface models, incorporating diverse geological and geophysical datasets.
- Oversee the assessment of geological risk and uncertainty for exploration opportunities.
- Manage relationships with external data providers and consultants.
- Present exploration results and recommendations to senior management and joint venture partners.
- Mentor and guide a team of geoscientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in hydrocarbon exploration, with a significant portion in a lead or senior technical role.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Kingdom, Petrel).
- Proven ability to generate and mature exploration prospects in various geological settings.
- Strong understanding of basin analysis, structural geology, and stratigraphy.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
