Lead Geoscientist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead exploration activities for their expanding portfolio based in Birmingham . This critical role involves identifying and evaluating prospective hydrocarbon basins, leading geological and geophysical interpretations, and guiding the seismic acquisition and processing efforts. You will work closely with the subsurface team to generate high-quality exploration opportunities and contribute significantly to the company's future growth strategy. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological and geophysical interpretation of seismic, well, and other subsurface data to identify and de-risk exploration targets.
• Develop and manage exploration programs, including prospect mapping, basin analysis, and play fairway assessment.
• Oversee seismic data acquisition, processing, and interpretation workflows.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and petrophysicists to assess the commercial potential of identified prospects.
• Mentor and guide junior geoscientists within the exploration team.
• Prepare technical presentations and reports for internal stakeholders and potential partners.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field.
• Over 10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, with a proven track record of discovering commercially viable resources.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation , sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Proficiency with industry-standard G&G software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of petroleum systems and basin modeling.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
