About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Geoscientist to spearhead their exploration activities in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. This critical role involves leading the geological and geophysical interpretation of potential hydrocarbon basins, identifying and evaluating new exploration prospects, and managing integrated subsurface teams. You will be instrumental in developing regional exploration strategies, overseeing prospect maturation, and ensuring the quality and delivery of subsurface data and interpretations that drive successful exploration campaigns, contributing significantly to the company's growth and reserve replacement targets within a collaborative and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geological and geophysical interpretation of seismic and well data to identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities.
- Develop and implement regional exploration strategies and play fairway mapping.
- Manage and mentor a team of geoscientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee the geological aspects of prospect maturation, including risk assessment and volumetric estimation.
- Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and petrophysicists to integrate subsurface data for comprehensive asset understanding.
- Present exploration recommendations and technical findings to senior management and joint venture partners.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, with a proven track record of successful prospect generation.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and basin analysis.
- Strong understanding of petroleum systems and play-based exploration methodologies.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary geoscience teams.
