About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Geoscientist to spearhead geological exploration and analysis for their growing energy portfolio in the West Midlands . This senior role involves guiding a team of geoscientists, overseeing seismic data interpretation, and integrating geological models with reservoir engineering to identify and de-risk exploration and development opportunities. You will play a crucial part in shaping the company's exploration strategy, ensuring the effective application of cutting-edge geological technologies and contributing to the sustainable growth of energy resources. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead critical geological initiatives and influence strategic decisions within a key UK energy hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of geoscientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Oversee the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic, well log, and core data.
- Develop and validate complex 3D geological models to support reservoir characterization and field development planning.
- Integrate geological data with reservoir engineering and production data to enhance subsurface understanding.
- Identify and evaluate new exploration prospects and development opportunities, assessing geological risks.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geoscience and implement them where beneficial.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in exploration and development geoscience within the energy sector.
- Proven expertise in seismic interpretation, structural geology, and sequence stratigraphy.
- Strong command of geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with subsurface data integration and uncertainty analysis in the Birmingham area is beneficial.
