About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Lead Geotechnical Engineer to oversee critical projects within the Energy sector in Birmingham . This senior role requires extensive expertise in subsurface investigations, foundation design, and ground improvement techniques specifically for energy infrastructure, such as wind farms, solar installations, and power plants. You will lead a team of geotechnical specialists, ensuring the integrity and safety of groundwork for major energy developments. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and interpretation of geotechnical investigations, including site surveys and soil testing.
• Develop detailed foundation designs for energy infrastructure, considering seismic activity, soil conditions, and load requirements.
• Oversee ground improvement strategies and slope stability analyses for complex project sites.
• Manage geotechnical aspects of project lifecycle, from concept to construction, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Provide expert technical advice and review reports prepared by junior engineers and consultants.
• Ensure all geotechnical designs comply with relevant UK and international engineering standards and energy sector best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on the energy infrastructure sector .
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional body is highly desirable.
• Expertise in numerical modelling software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) for slope stability and foundation analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and large-scale projects.
• Strong understanding of geological conditions and their impact on energy project development.
