Lead Geotechnical Engineer - Offshore Wind

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Geotechnical Engineer to play a critical role in the development of offshore wind projects based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This senior position involves overseeing all geotechnical aspects, from site investigation and analysis to foundation design, ensuring the structural integrity and performance of offshore wind turbines in challenging marine environments. You will lead a team of geotechnical specialists, collaborate with international partners, and contribute to the strategic direction of the company's renewable energy portfolio. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all geotechnical investigations and data analysis for offshore wind farm development.
• Develop and review geotechnical design reports, foundation concepts, and soil-structure interaction analyses.
• Oversee the tendering and supervision of offshore site investigations, including CPT, boreholes, and geophysical surveys.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to internal teams and external stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers, fostering a high-performing team culture.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements for offshore structures.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on offshore wind or marine structures .
• Demonstrated experience in leading geotechnical teams and managing complex projects.
• Expertise in soil mechanics, foundation design, numerical modelling (e.g., Plaxis), and risk assessment.
• Strong knowledge of offshore site investigation techniques and equipment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
