About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Lead Geotechnical Engineer to join their established practice in Manchester . This key role will involve managing and delivering a diverse portfolio of geotechnical investigations and designs for building, infrastructure, and environmental projects. You will be responsible for leading a team of geotechnical specialists, ensuring the highest standards of technical quality, and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site characterization, soil testing, and risk assessment for complex projects.
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and earthworks, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, interpret data, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to project teams and clients.
• Oversee site supervision and construction monitoring for geotechnical elements, ensuring designs are implemented correctly and safely.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and technicians, fostering technical expertise and career development within the team.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure integrated and effective project solutions.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Proven experience in managing geotechnical aspects of major civil engineering and construction projects in the Manchester area.
• Expertise in foundation design, ground improvement techniques, and slope stability analysis.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar.
• Strong report writing skills and excellent communication abilities.
