Lead Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead their geotechnical investigations and design services in Bradford . This senior role is central to ensuring the stability and safety of foundation designs for a wide range of infrastructure and energy projects. You will lead a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians, manage project delivery, and contribute to business development efforts. The position demands a deep understanding of soil mechanics, ground investigation techniques, and foundation design, combined with strong leadership and client management skills, making a significant impact on project success and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage ground investigation programs, including site reconnaissance, intrusive investigations, and in-situ/laboratory testing.
• Provide expert geotechnical design advice for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks for various projects.
• Review and approve geotechnical interpretations, design calculations, and reports prepared by the team.
• Conduct site visits during construction to monitor earthworks, foundation installations, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other design disciplines to ensure integrated project solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Proficiency with geotechnical design software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio suite).
• Experience in managing projects, including budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
